First days at home

We arrived home at 7pm last night. We flew home from Vancouver and you didn't even see the inside of the plane! You slept through the entire flight from Vancouver to Montreal. Even through a diaper change. We had a limosine drive us home and we woke you up while we were on the bridge (about 15 minutes from home). We are so glad that we got a limo to drive us from the airport to home...it made coming home relaxing.

Arriving home a family photo with your "truck"
When we arrived in front of our house, you were just staring at the house. You recognized it from the pictures. Gram-Gram came out of the house to see you. We took some pictures in front of "your truck" and then we headed inside. As we walked up the walkway, a flock of geese flew overhead and you pointed and said "bird". We headed inside and you looked all around. I imagine that it was strange for you to see your house and your things in real life. We went into your room and you looked around and stared it was as if you were thinking "it's real".

After checking stuff out for a little while, we ate supper, Gram-Gram made a nice dinner of chicken, rice, mashed potatoes, and mashed carrots and turnip (daddy's favorite) you ate some manok (chicken) and rice but the rest...you left on the plate.

Here you are checking out your room for the first time

We felt good and so we decided to have some visitors come over Auntie "Shell", Tito Tim & Tita Charleen, and your cousins, Ty and Britney). After everyone left, you slept from 9 -11 last night were up from 11 until 2-3 and then slept until 5:30...we all were up at 5:30.

We played this morning you ate a pretty good breakfast you napped from 10-11:30 and we woke you up you were not happy with us...you cried (the first time since the first days we had you).

We got you dressed and we went to Wal.mart. It was good to get out! (Even you thought so!)
you liked your car seat! Daddy sat with you in the back to make sure that you were ok
When we came home, we all had a nap - it was supposed to be from 4-5 but we didn't wake up with the alarm...so it was from 4-6. You were even more upset with us that we woke you up the second time!

After a small supper, Bapa and Uncle Dan came to visit, and you watched your first hockey game. I think they may have stayed a little too long because at one point, you came over to mommy and asked to be picked up and closed your eyes and started to suck your thumb.

We went to bed at 9 you had a restless sleep between 11 and 3 and finally fell back asleep around 3 (it's now 4 and mommy is still awake).

You are such a funny and happy boy and we are so lucky to have you in our lives!
Today Daddy worked with you to help you to learn your numbers (you already know them...we just need more practise)
Mommy and Daddy taught you some new sentences today:
"I am smart"
"I am cute"
"I am funny"
And  you are all of those things! we love you so very much...I can't wait until tomorrow to see what fun it holds!

I lub you, Nico

Happy 2nd Birthday!

Today is the Little Moose's birthday, we are so happy to celebrate him and his life, we just wish that he could be with us. To keep us busy, we've planned some activities...I decorated your room last night with balloons so that in the morning, your daddy and gram-gram would be surprised! Next year, it will be you that will be surprised in the morning when you wake up surrounded by balloons on your very special day!

Keeping Track of the Little One

I loved this idea on ohdeedoh.com ...I'm afraid that our Little One will be growing and changing so quickly that I won't be able to keep up. This idea seems quick and easy...and it would be a wonderful keepsake for our Little One:

Kat over at Steady Mom uses index cards in an index card box with dividers. The dividers list the months and each card represents a day of the year. Whenever something memorable happens, a short description is written down on the card for that day.

We like the fact that the index cards are small enough to keep out on a kitchen table or counter, so we'd actually be more likely to remember to fill them out.

We'd also consider using this for when your toddler starts talking and saying some really funny things.

Your new home!

Hello Little One. You have a new home. We found our new home in July/August of 2009, and we put an offer on the house, which was conditional to us selling our home. We waited and waited and finally, on December 23, 2009, we found out that our house was sold! We took possession of the house on January 23, 2010, and we moved in on February 6, 2010. We have lots of work to do, to get the house ready for you, but we are so excited that this will be your home. We loved our other house, but it was a little small, and this house has room to grow...and one of your Grandma's will be living right downstairs!

One year...

Hello Little One!

Today it has been one year since we were officially approved to adopt from the Philippines! We are so excited that the first year has passed quickly and now we know that we should have a year or less to wait for you! We cannot wait to meet you and get to know you! We love you already and we are ready to be your Mommy and Daddy!

We have been planning how we are going to announce your arrival (well the proposal). We have a plan and things are falling into place! We have a nice surprise for our family and friends that is in the works! We can't wait to announce that we are going to be a Mommy and a Daddy...

We love you and we pray for you, your birth parents and your caregivers often. It is our prayer that you would continue to grow up and be healthy and be safe...and that God would provide you with all that you need...that you would have enough to eat, and drink...that you would have many caregivers and friends who love you and care for you and that we would be able to come and get you as soon as possible!

Goodnight Sweet Little One...We love you!

Announcement

Little One...we are waiting for you! The wait is not as difficult as we anticipated, mainly because we know that you are going to come and join our family soon.

We have been planning how we will announce that you are coming to our family and friends. We have thought long and hard about it and we decided that your fuzzy friend Ferdinand the Moose (made especially for you) would go on a hunt, searching for his purpose in life. We took a bunch of silly photos of Ferdinand looking for his purpose and then finally he realizes that his true purpose in life is to be a hugable, loveable, furry friend to you...Our Little One...we have been calling you that for a while now...At the end of our book, we will paste an envelope onto the back cover we will place your announcement picture into the envelope. We have to have the books pre-printed because it takes a week or so to have them printed and we don't want to wait that long once we receive our referral to tell all of our family and friends so a photo insert at the end will do perfectly.

We ordered a sample copy for your dad and I and we received it today! Shhh...it's our secret though. Oh, Little One, it is so amazing! We can hardly wait until we have your referral and we can give these gifts to our family and friends. We are so excited!

We can hardly wait for you to come and join our family...loving you already....

Your Mommy

(We made a few small changes to the book and over the weekend (Thanksgiving 2009) we ordered all the copies for our family! I can hardly wait! We'll be ready when we get the proposal to make the announcement to our families! - we're so excited about the book that we had a hard time not talking about it at our Thanksgiving dinner!)
